We start with a conversation
We will ask what has been happening, what matters to you and what you would like to be different. Medical history is important, but so are previous experiences, barriers, worries and the demands of everyday life.
You can bring relevant referrals, reports or medication information if you have them. If you do not, reception can help work out what is needed.
Assessment should have a reason
Your clinician may look at strength, movement, balance, fitness or a particular functional task. We do not test things simply because a test exists. Assessment should help us understand your needs or guide treatment.
We will explain what we are doing and adapt anything that does not feel appropriate on the day.
You leave with direction
Together, we decide the most useful next step. That might be regular supervised sessions, a home or gym plan, group exercise, hydrotherapy or coordination with another member of your care team.
The plan does not need to be perfect. It needs to be workable enough to begin.
