Josh Whittaker
Josh Whittaker is the Senior Exercise Physiologist and Director of Hex Health. He is passionate about helping people and is a firm believer that exercise is key to a for filling and happy life.
Josh has completed a Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology (Deakin Uni) and a Bachelor of Human Movement with Honours from RMIT. This included research and a publication in high intensity interval training, and bulk amounts of caffeine.
After completing his studies, Josh started privately practicing out of numerous GP clinics around Gippsland with the aim to 1) allow the service of exercise physiology to be accessible to the Gippsland community and 2) do what he loves.
Since then, Josh’s passion has seen Hex Health grow into its own location where he takes pride in the passionate manner in the complimentary elements that his staff have bought into the space, delivering Hex’s vision.
Josh is also a Head Lecturer at Federation University and loves giving back academically to the students with practical examples from his business. He lectures units such as “Injury Prevention” and “Health Promotion”.
Recently, he has spent some time as a Strength Conditioning coach for youth Sporting clubs including
- Hawthorn Football club as under 15 strength and conditioning coach for the elite Gippsland satellite Next Generation Academy
- Lowanna College head of Strength and Conditioning for their elite sporting program
- Strength and Conditioning program through the Moe Football Club
- Strength and conditioning coach for Lavalla College’s sporting excellence program
- Consulting as an exercise physiologist for the Moe Swim Club
In his downtime he hangs with his family (2 kids!), exercises and continues on his Dad’s Club quest to one day buy a bus for their ventures!
Emily
Emily is a "down-to-earth" local with a passion for holistic, "back to basics" health and wellbeing.
Emily loves to work with anyone who is keen to improve their health and their relationship with food. She has a natural love, passion and interest in food that jumps out of her in consults when she talks about food!
The home grown Traralgon girl looks to optimise the relationship you have with food to ensure you get the most from it, and that you go back to loving your options and look forward to mealtimes. Food shouldn’t be hard, and it shouldn’t be something that you dread! Emily takes the guess work out and allows you to love food again!
As well as consulting for Hex Health, Emily works as a Dietitian at Latrobe Community Health services between 2013-2015 held the position of Gippsland Power Football Club's Dietician.
Outside of work, Emily’s passion for food and maintaining a healthy lifestyle continues where she enjoys wholefood based cooking, walks in nature, hitting the gym and spending time with family and friends.
Seb
Seb is an accredited exercise physiologist who completed his two degrees (Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology and Bachelor in Exercise and Sport Science) at Deakin University.
To complement his work at Hex Health, Seb holds the role of Rehabilitation coach with Gippsland Power, delivers Certificate III and IV in Fitness, works at the Moe Football club as a Strength Conditioning Coach, and also at Latrobe Community Health Services as an Exercise Physiologist.
As a new graduate, he completed placements in a wide array of settings including hospitals, private clinics, GP clinics, community health centres and strength and conditioning gyms.
He was also employed by the Hawthorn football club as under 13 strength and conditioning coach for the elite Gippsland satellite Next Generation Academy.
Seb’s clinical focus spreads across the areas of musculoskeletal rehabilitation, cardiometabloic health and strength conditioning.
On the weekends you are likely to spot Seb in his tightest lycra and up some of the steepest hills in Gippsland (cycling that is!). That or playing chess, tennis or basketball.
Lauren
Lauren is an Accredited Practising Dietitian who endeavours to empower people in her local community to help them live a healthy and nourishing life.
Whether you’re after nutrition advice for weight management, gut health or fitness and performance goals, Lauren’s philosophy is quite simple- sustainable, realistic and enjoyable!
Lauren has completed a Master of Dietetics (Deakin Uni), Bachelor of Health Sciences (Latrobe Uni) and a Certificate in Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetics (Royal Children’s Hospital).
After completing her Masters, Lauren worked in a number of private practice clinics in Melbourne before moving back to her hometown in Gippsland to pursue her clinical career at Latrobe Regional Hospital.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys running, outdoor adventures and spending quality time with family and friends.
